How Do I Qualify for SHOWCASE Nationals?

Solos, Duos & Trios

Qualifying for SHOWCASE Nationals is simple.

If your routine places 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an eligible section at a Platinum Dance Competition SHOWCASE Qualifying Event, that routine qualifies for the SHOWCASE National Finals.

SHOWCASE Qualifier Registration Fee

There is a one-time $20 SHOWCASE Qualifier Registration Fee per competitor, per qualifying event.

This fee covers all eligible solos, duos, trios, championships and title routines entered by that competitor at the event.

Please note: You must register as a SHOWCASE Qualifier before the competition. The qualifier cannot be added after the event has commenced.

Qualification is Per Routine

A common question we receive is:

“If my child qualifies with one routine, do all of their routines qualify?”

The answer is no.

Each routine is judged individually.

Example

Mary registers as a SHOWCASE Qualifier and enters:

• Jazz
• Tap
• Lyrical
• Hip Hop

Mary pays the one-off $20 SHOWCASE Qualifier Fee.

Her results are:

• Jazz – 1st Place Qualified
• Tap – No placing
• Lyrical – No placing
• Hip Hop – No placing

Only Jazz qualifies for the SHOWCASE National Finals.

The Tap, Lyrical and Hip Hop routines would need to qualify at another eligible event.

Summary

• The $20 SHOWCASE Qualifier Fee is paid once per competitor, per qualifying event.
• The fee covers all eligible routines entered at that event.
• Each routine is judged separately.
• A routine must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd to qualify.
• Qualification is awarded to the routine, not automatically to every routine entered by the competitor.

Group (Troupe) Qualification

Groups wishing to qualify for SHOWCASE Nationals must receive:

85 points or higher at a Platinum Troupe Event. 

Any group achieving 85 points or above automatically qualifies for the SHOWCASE National Finals.

SHOWCASE Wildcard Qualifier – Gosford Solos/Duos/Trios

The Gosford Wildcard Qualifier is the final opportunity to qualify for SHOWCASE Nationals.

This section is available only to competitors who have not already qualified.

Registration includes:

• 1 Solo Performance Entry
• One $20 SHOWCASE Qualifier Registration

Any genre may be performed and previously performed routines may be repeated.

Please note: Improvisation sections are not eligible for SHOWCASE qualification.

SHOWCASE National Dancer of the Year (DOTY)

The SHOWCASE National Dancer of the Year celebrates dancers who demonstrate outstanding technique, artistry, versatility and performance quality.

DOTY qualification is genre specific, meaning dancers choose which styles they wish to qualify in.

Eligibility

To attempt qualification, competitors must:

• Compete at a Platinum Dance Competition SHOWCASE Qualifying Event.
• Pay the one-time $20 SHOWCASE Qualifier Registration Fee.
• Enter a minimum of three Platinum Level routines in the nominated genre.
• Enter one Championship in that same genre.
• Pay the $20 DOTY Qualifier Fee for each genre they wish to nominate.

Competitors are judged during their normal competition sections.

How to Qualify

To qualify for the SHOWCASE National Dancer of the Year Finals, competitors must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in:

• Their nominated Platinum Level routines, and
• Their Championship.

Successful dancers will qualify to compete in the Elite Dancer of the Year Sections at the SHOWCASE National Finals.

Example

Mary wishes to qualify in:

• Jazz
• Lyrical
• Tap

She has:

• Paid the one-time SHOWCASE Qualifier Registration Fee.
• Entered the required Platinum Level routines and Championships.
• Added the DOTY Qualifier Fee to each nominated genre.

Mary now has three opportunities to qualify—one in each nominated genre.

If Mary only wanted to qualify in Jazz, she would simply nominate Jazz and pay one DOTY Qualifier Fee.

Important Information

• The SHOWCASE Qualifier Registration Fee is paid once per competitor, per qualifying event.
• The DOTY Qualifier Fee is $20 per genre nominated.
• Qualification is awarded per routine (or per genre for DOTY), not automatically to every routine entered.

Qualification Certificates

SHOWCASE Qualification Certificates/Bookmarks can be collected from the Front Sign-In Desk during your Platinum Dance Competition event.

SHOWCASE Registration

Following each Platinum Dance Competition SHOWCASE Qualifying Event, all official qualifier details are submitted directly to SHOWCASE by Platinum Dance Competition before registrations open.

When registering for the SHOWCASE National Finals, please ensure you register under the correct SHOWCASE Zonefor the event where you qualified. If you are unsure, please check the SHOWCASE website before completing your registration.

Please Note

Qualifying at a Platinum Dance Competition event does not automatically enter competitors into the SHOWCASE National Finals.

All qualified competitors must complete a separate SHOWCASE National Finals entry directly with SHOWCASE to compete.
